Herbert Svendsen

We named our software solution for innovator Herbert Svendsen. Herbie, as he was known by his mates, was the son of a Danish ship captain and founder of a dairy farming business in the North Waikato. Born in Auckland in 1887, Herbie found a passion for dairy cows and worked to build somewhat of an empire at that time.

Herbie’s philosophy was to innovate and he constantly looked for new ways to add value, not only to his own farms but also to the wider community. Svendsen & Sons was created – a milk delivery business which ended up running New Zealand’s first motorised milk delivery run.
